Greetings all!
With an upcoming bike trip, a couple of bike projects, and almost daily bike rides, I thought I'd share some of my experiences along the way. I've been riding for about 15 years. I started with a 1992 Honda Nighthawk 750, then on to two 1978 Honda CB750s. The upcoming trip I mentioned is from Memphis, TN to Los Angeles and back. Due to a trip this past weekend (next post maybe) I made the decision not to go on my 750. So I made a purchase that I am absolutely thrilled about.
I found the bike listed on Craigslist from a local dealer. I couldn't find a bad review on the model anywhere on the internet. The price was even listed about $1700 below Blue Book value. The bike is a 2010 BMW F800ST. The previous owner had only put 1300 miles on the bike and had added a few extras.
The only BMWs I had ever looked at were pre-80's models. I prefer older bikes, but knew I needed something much newer and reliable for this trip. Pictures are below. I'm ready to do some riding and will start with a commute tomorrow. Weather is supposed to be nice over the weekend, so I might be able slip away for a short run.
I'm looking forward to sharing some stories and photos in the future. I'm also going to be posting to Twitter about the LA trip using #memtola.
